Biography
Katie Portillo teaches "The Middle East and Homeland Security" at SoPA in the Emergency and Security Studies program. Mrs. Portillo is currently an Intelligence Analyst for Naval Special Warfare Unit 2 in Stuttgart, Germany.
Prior to life in Germany, she lived in New Orleans where she completed her Master's Degree with Tulane University and worked as a Counterterrorism Threat Analyst for USCENTCOM.
In earlier days, Mrs. Portillo received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Wisconsin and subsequently served a tour of Active Duty in the US Navy as an Arabic Linguist. She continued working in Homeland Security following her Active Duty career, remaining with the National Security Agency before moving into Military Intelligence.
Aside from work, Mrs. Portillo enjoys hiking and biking around her current continent, with husband, toddler, infant, and furry babies in tow. While she enjoys Europe's history, natural beauty, and ubiquitous wine a great deal, nothing can replace the U.S.... or real football.
