Biography

Dr. Tina Bynum holds a Doctor of Management in Homeland Security from Colorado Technical University, a Master of Public Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (magna cum laude with High Distinction) from the University of Colorado.

She currently serves as the Associate Dean of Public Services at Pikes Peak State College and has dedicated 26 years to higher education in public safety programs. Dr. Bynum oversees, develops, and teaches in the areas of criminal justice, emergency and fire management services, political science, disaster public health, public administration, and homeland security. She holds multiple FEMA certifications in emergency management and is a retired firefighter and emergency medical technician. Beyond academia, she actively volunteers as a senior emergency response planner, facilitator, and evaluator for her local community and the state.

With over 30 years of experience in business administration, operations and finance management, accounting, and grant writing, Dr. Bynum has held leadership roles in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. She also has a distinguished history of volunteer service with emergency services, military veterans, and youth programs in her community.

Dr. Bynum has contributed to several books and chapters in emergency management, focusing on homeland security, disaster response, and public policy.
Her research interests explore the social, governmental, and economic implications of homeland security, emergency management, and criminal justice issues on public policy.
