Biography
Stephen Murphy, Ph.D., has over a decade of experience in homeland security, public health emergency preparedness, operational continuity, and emergency management which includes leading pandemic influenza and other infectious disease outbreak planning initiatives for major metro-areas, Strategic National Stockpile planning for major metro-areas, hurricane evacuation planning, and environmental concerns related to disaster preparedness as well as response. Dr. Murphy holds a PhD from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine where he also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Global Environmental Health Sciences. After studying Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, he returned to New Orleans to receive his Masters of Public Health (MPH) degree from Tulane. Dr. Murphy also holds an MBA in Healthcare Management from Mercer University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Georgia.
