Explore our Certificate in Advertising

Does innovative advertising make you think, “I want to do that!” If you answered yes, you’re in the right place. The Tulane School of Professional Advancement offers an Advertising Minor and Certificate program that will be tailored to your needs and career path in the advertising industry. The curriculum is designed to prepare students in the areas of advertising strategies and planning, media buying, copywriting, managing advertising budgets, production and workflow. Courses such as Economics of Advertising, Traffic & Production, Brand & Campaign Strategy and Media Planning & Buying are workforce aligned and industry specific.

At its core, the program works to uphold the mission of the Media + Design program which is to provide students with the research and problem-solving skills necessary to create strategic, innovative, cultural and socially significant communication solutions.

Professional Certificate

A professional certificate in advertising introduces students to the marketing and advertising discipline and how they interact to help a company or organization achieve their communication and marketing goals.

18 Hours

This 18 credit-hour undergraduate certificate focuses on the strategies used in advertising campaigns including media planning and buying, brand strategy, traffic and production, economics and content creation—the opportunity to gain workforce specific skills.

After a decades long career in education, Tamzen decided to bet on herself and take a leap to change careers. Already holding an M.A. in English, she went back to school at the age of 31 and completed her P.B.C. in Graphic Design. Tamzen is now a graphic designer for St. Jude Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Megan Calvin

Megan double majored in interactive UX/UI design and business at Tulane SoPA, has accepted a post-graduation position in NYC at IBM Garage and its incubator-style approach to technology solutions for the business giant’s clients.

“As a UX designer for IBM Garage, I am working directly with developers and architects, leading design thinking workshops with clients, creating ‘wireframes’ and prototypes, user testing, and iterating on these designs to deliver products that meet our clients’ needs,” Calvin said.
