At the Tulane School of Professional Advancement, we know that finding the right place to continue your education is a huge decision. You may transfer up to 60 credits to our undergraduate programs.

Start the process today in a few easy steps:

1 | Fill out our simple application
2 | Indicate on the application that you will be transferring credit
3 | Put the code “transfer” in the waive fee box
4 | Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities that you previously attended
4a | Previous institutions may forward electronic transcripts to soparecords@tulane.edu
4b | If electronic transcripts are not available, official transcripts in unopened envelopes from the institution may be mailed to:

  Undergraduate Transfer Requirements

Undergraduate students must meet the following requirements in order to transfer up to 60 credits to Tulane SoPA:

  • Credits must be earned from a fully accredited higher education institution
  • You must have earned at least a C in the course

Requirements needed to transfer credits:

  • Tulane SoPA must offer a course comparable to the one you want to transfer
  • You may need to show a syllabus and/or detailed course description

 

 Tuition, Financial Aid, and Scholarships

An undergraduate education doesn’t have to be a financial sacrifice. SoPA students pay relatively low tuition and fees. Tuition is $1,728 per course, meaning you can earn your bachelor’s degree from Tulane for less than $34,000 when you transfer 60 credits.

All transfer students are eligible for a $500 scholarship for their first 3 consecutive semesters*. Students who earned an associate degree from a Minority Serving Institution, are full-time teachers or paraprofessionals, are PTK graduates, or are active-duty military personnel qualify for 20% off tuition. Community college Phi Theta Kappa honor society graduates qualify for up to $3,000/year in tuition gap scholarships.

*Scholarships available to students who transferred to Tulane SoPA after Spring 2022.

Accelerated Master’s Degrees

Tulane SoPA Accelerated Master’s degree programs provide undergraduate transfer students with an opportunity to get a head start on graduate education and earn a master’s degree in a single year following the completion of their bachelor’s degree. The program allows SoPA students to apply six graduate credits completed during their senior year toward both their undergraduate and their master’s degrees.

Flexible Courses On-Campus and Online

At Tulane SoPA, you can design your education to fit your needs. Out of state? Most undergraduate courses are available online and on your schedule. Local to New Orleans? Come throw a necklace on the bead tree on your way to class on the Uptown campus or design a logo and website for a start-up company in state-of-the-art design labs at our Elmwood campus. Louisiana Community and Technical College Transfer Students

Our transfer agreement with the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) gives LCTCS graduates an opportunity to seamlessly transfer and earn a Tulane bachelor’s degree in nine high-demand fields. At Tulane SoPA, we want to make sure all your questions about transferring are answered. You can always send questions to asksopa@tulane.edu and an admission representative will respond within 48 hours. Below are answers to your transfer FAQs.

Undergraduate students may transfer up to 60 credits. Learn more about undergraduate transfer here.

Graduate students may transfer up to 9 credits.

    Credits must be earned from a fully accredited higher educational institution
  • You must have earned a C in the course for undergraduate credit and at least a B in the course for graduate credit
  • Tulane SoPA must offer a course comparable to the one you want to transfer
  • You may need to show a syllabus and/or detailed course description
  • For the General Legal Studies program, only courses taken at an American Bar Association-approved paralegal program may be transferred. Coursework from foreign universities will be referred to the World Education Services for evaluation and translation, if necessary.

We prefer to receive electronic transcripts.

Electronically submitted transcripts are usually received within 24-72 hours.  Transcripts sent via US mail may take up to 2 weeks.

Tulane SoPA will work with students to transfer in as many credits as possible as long as all other criteria for eligible credits are met as stated above.

SoPA students can be awarded up to 12 elective credits to individuals who are graduates of training academies for police officers, firefighters, and paramedics.  Individuals applying for these credits must be able to document their graduation from a training academy and/or certification as a firefighter, a police officer, or paramedic.

At the undergraduate level students can transfer in a maximum of 60 credits and at the graduate level a maximum of 9 credits. This includes credit or work and life experience. Speak with your academic advisor on the best ways to combine these credits.

Tulane SoPA is accessible and affordable. By transferring 60 credits, you can earn your bachelor’s degree from Tulane for less than $35,000, and even less if you qualify for one of our tuition discount scholarships. We also offer any PTK students transferring to Tulane up to $1,500 per semester to help fill the gaps between tuition, mandatory fees, and awarded financial aid. *SoPA undergraduate tuition is currently $576/credit hour, with most courses being 3-credit hours or $1,728 per course. A student who transfers 60 credits will pay $34,560 to complete the required additional 60 credits to earn a bachelor’s degree.
