Public Relations Program Concentrations

New technologies arise every day, enabling companies and organizations to communicate to their audiences in different ways, track their messages and engagement, and measure the results of those interactions. Students in our Digital Media and Marketing Communications concentration will learn the cutting edge technologies, strategies, and methodologies of digital and social media, as well as how they integrate with corporate marketing, sales, and public relations initiatives.

Professional Certificates in Applied Business Studies

Students can gain an advantage in their career development through our certificates in accounting, applied business, digital media & marketing communications, finance, human resources, marketing, public relations, and small business development. These professional certificates are aligned with industry association certifications and cover a range of theory and practice used in today’s business environments. The certificates can be “stacked” to allow students to meet certain course and credit hours required for industry certification, without having to obtain an additional degree. Professional certificates require 12-18 credit hours, and students must obtain a grade of C or better in all related courses.

Minor in Applied Business Studies

For students who are majoring in other disciplines and wish to develop a general knowledge, the program also offers six different minors.

Career-Focused Curriculum

The Applied Business Studies programs offer a wide variety of subjects, including accounting, human resources, public relations, marketing, and small business management. This range of subjects reflects the growing multidisciplinary needs of businesses and the importance of understanding how they interact in order to become successful.

Having a degree or certificate in business can open up new careers or help you advance in your current company.

Note: Students may not earn more than 27 credits in courses under the business studies category or apply more than 27 credits of business courses toward any School of Professional Advancement program. Business studies credits earned at the School of Professional Advancement may not be transferable to an AACSB accredited business school.
