SoPA launches student chapter for future leaders and HR professionals

A new organization for students interested in leadership using a human resources approach welcomed members and guests on Wednesday, April 23, on the Uptown campus.  LéSHRM, a twist on the professional version of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), is a dynamic student-led organization supported by the Tulane School of Professional Advancement (SoPA) and its Business & Leadership Studies Program

The inaugural meet-and-greet brought together students from a variety of programs across Tulane. Distinguished guests included Tulane’s Vice President of Human Resources Jonathan Small; SHRM NOLA President Patrick Morrison; SHRM NOLA President-Elect Rickey Coleman; CEO of Minor Consulting Group Jacqueline Minor; and Ochsner Health Employee Relations Specialist Whitley Robinson.

“It was a wonderful evening that gave students the opportunity to engage in conversations about the importance of human resources and leadership in today’s professional landscape,” said Ambika Prasad, associate director of the Business and Leadership Students Program. “The group also exchanged ideas for future programming, emphasizing the value of collaboration and interdisciplinary dialogue.”

The Business & Leadership Studies Program offers certificates, minors, and a B.A. in Human Resources, the curriculum for which is aligned with the requirements of SHRM. LéSHRM is open to all students across different programs at Tulane and is dedicated to cultivating leadership excellence and promoting human resource management among students.  LéSHRM aims to empower leaders through insightful programming and a vibrant network of peers and professionals.
