Transferring Made Easy

Graduate Transfer Process

At the Tulane School of Professional Advancement, we know that finding the right place to continue your education is a huge decision. We strive to make the transfer process as simple as possible. You may transfer up to 9 credits to our graduate programs. Your academic advisor will work with you to identify your transferable courses.


Start the process today in a few easy steps:

  1. Fill out our application. Please note that the School of Professional Advancement does not require GRE scores for admission.
  2. Indicate on the application that you will be transferring credit
  3. Put the code transfer in the waive fee box
  4. Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities that you previously attended. Previous institutions may forward electronic transcripts to soparecords@tulane.edu. If electronic transcripts are not available, official transcripts in unopened envelopes from the institution may be mailed to:

Graduate Transfer Student Requirements - No GRE Required

Graduate students must meet the following requirements in order to transfer up to 9 credits to the School of Professional Advancement:

  • Credits must be earned from a higher education institution that was regionally accredited when you took the courses, or from one of the School of Professional Advancement’s approved community and industry partners
  • You must have earned at least a B in the course
  • The School of Professional Advancement must offer a course comparable to the one you want to transfer
  • You may also need to provide the School of Professional Advancement a syllabus or other detailed information about each transfer course

Community and Industry Partners for Credit Transfers & Industry Certification

The School of Professional Advancement has formed partnerships with select groups so you can transfer Continuing Professional Education experience to Tulane for credits towards a graduate degree. Additionally, some of our partners allow you to use your graduate degree credits at Tulane to earn an industry certification.

Please click on the partner pages below if you have earned a certification or participated in a course or workshop.

ASISASIS. Students who have earned a pre-approved continuing professional education (CPE) credit from ASIS have the opportunity to apply up to nine credits to a MS in Cybersecurity, MS in IT Management, MS in Security Management, or MPS in Emergency Management.

 

Marine Corps CollegeMarine Corps College of Distance Education (CDE). Graduates of CDET have the opportunity to receive nine School of Professional Advancement graduate course-level hours to apply toward either a Master of Professional Studies in Homeland Security Studies, or a Master of Professional Studies in Emergency Management, as well as discounted tuition.

 

National GuardNational Guard Bureau Homeland Security Institute (HSI). United States military service members who have completed the HSI Program of Study and earned a “National Guard Bureau, Homeland Security Certificate of Completion” have an opportunity to transfer 9 credits toward a Master of Professional Studies in Homeland Security Studies or Master of Professional Studies in Emergency Management, as well as discounted tuition.

 

National Leage of CitiesNational League of Cities University (NLCU). NLC members who complete the “Leading Through Disruption” program are eligible to receive up to six credits toward a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the School of Professional Advancement, as well as discounted tuition.

At the School of Professional Advancement, we want to make sure all your questions about transferring are answered. You can always send questions to asksopa@tulane.edu and an admission representative will respond within 48 hours. Below are answers to your transfer FAQs.

Students may transfer up to 9 credits.

  • Credits must be earned from a fully accredited higher educational institution
  • You must have earned a B in the course
  • The School of Professional Advancement must offer a course comparable to the one you want to transfer
  • You may need to show a syllabus and/or detailed course description

We prefer to receive electronic transcripts.

Electronically submitted transcripts are usually received within 24-72 hours.  Transcripts sent via US mail may take up to 2 weeks.

The School of Professional Advancement will work with students to transfer in as many credits as possible as long as all other criteria for eligible credits are met as stated above.

School of Professional Advancement students can be awarded up to 12 elective credits to individuals who are graduates of training academies for police officers, firefighters, and paramedics.  Individuals applying for these credits must be able to document their graduation from a training academy and/or certification as a firefighter, a police officer, or paramedic.

Students can transfer in a maximum of 9 credits. This includes credit or work and life experience. Speak with your academic advisor on the best ways to combine these credits.
