The Digital Media and Marketing Communications program at Tulane SoPA will prepare students to work in a range of industries including digital marketing, marketing communications departments and even startups. Our program’s offerings include a Bachelor’s, a Minor or a Certificate in Digital Media and Marketing Communications.

Foundational courses as well as strategy specific courses such as SEO & SEM, CRM and Digital Media Analytics and Reporting will make you marketable, no pun intended, for a career in digital marketing.

At its core, the program works to uphold the mission of the Media + Design program which is to provide students with the research and problem-solving skills necessary to create strategic, innovative, cultural and socially significant communication solutions.

The Media + Design Program’s Digital Media Marketing and Communications major will equip students with content-rich and highly competitive skills that are necessary in the digital marketing and communication industries.

Tulane’s School of Professional Advancement awards the Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media Marketing and Communications following the successful completion of 120 credits, including 36 credits in the major. Successful completion of an upper level review is required to advance in the program and is typically done prior to advancing to 3000 and 4000 level courses.

Professional Certificate Requirements

With the advent of the digital revolution, social media, and mobile technologies, the way companies and organizations communicate and engage with their customers, constituents, and the public has drastically changed. The Professional Certificate in Digital Media and Marketing Communication (DMMC) is ideal for students looking to advance their knowledge, skill set, and applied understanding of Digital Media strategies, tactics and best practices.

18 Hours

This 18 credit-hour undergraduate certificate focuses on the strategies used in digital marketing campaigns including digital content such as infographics, e-books, and blogs; and, SEO & SEM tactics to improve an organizations effectiveness in communicating to their audience on digital, social media, and mobile platforms.

After working in fashion for 20 years including a stint at Neiman Marcus where she secured top designers for marquee events, Avonda wanted to take her career from the runway to the digital space and enrolled in the Digital Media and Marketing Communications certificate program. “I am excited to marry my experiential marketing skills with my new digital marketing knowledge to move my career to the next level,” said Avonda.

Megan Calvin

Megan double majored in interactive UX/UI design and business at Tulane SoPA, has accepted a post-graduation position in NYC at IBM Garage and its incubator-style approach to technology solutions for the business giant’s clients.

“As a UX designer for IBM Garage, I am working directly with developers and architects, leading design thinking workshops with clients, creating ‘wireframes’ and prototypes, user testing, and iterating on these designs to deliver products that meet our clients’ needs,” Calvin said.
