Get Crafty for Commencement
Decorating mortarboard and umbrellas is a cherished tradition for Tulane graduates. Graduating students can decorate on their own or stop by the LBC on Tuesday, May 16 to decorate their items with other grads!

On Friday, April 21, 2023, the Tulane School of Professional Advancement hosted its annual induction ceremony for Alpha Sigma Lambda, the national honor society for adult undergraduate students.

Sukari Ivester, Ph.D.
Humanities & Social Sciences Professor of Practice
Dr. Ivester holds expertise in urban planning, urban history and the politics of resistance. Her current research focuses on gentrification and displacement in New Orleans, as well as planning for population loss in the Gulf parishes.

Join us for the Tulane baseball game! Sponsored by the Tulane Faculty/Staff Veterans Affinity Group, this social event will give current Tulane active military, ROTC cadets and midshipmen, and veterans a chance to meet and socialize. Register to receive ticket information. Each veteran will receive one complimentary ticket for themselves and one guest. All current students receive complimentary admission with a valid Tulane Splash Card.

This event is for both graduates and undergraduates. Students should proceed to our designated robing area (to be announced later) while guests should go to McAlister directly. A reception at the Marshall Commons Lobby (inside AB Freeman School of Business) will immediately follow our ceremony.

The Unified Commencement Ceremony honors the graduating students from all of the university's schools and colleges. It features the pomp and circumstance expected of a traditional commencement celebration with a New Orleans twist. At this ceremony, expect to see the procession of graduates, faculty and honorary degree recipients, and hear from keynote speaker, Lesie Odom, Jr.

Join the Student Veterans of America Board!
The time has come for our Student Veterans of America Chapter to select new leaders. There are four board positions available - President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. If interested in serving, please email tulanesva@tulane.edu by Friday, May 5, 2023. SVA will hold an election by email the following week. Board position duty descriptions are below.
- The President shall be the presiding officer of all general meetings and shall oversee all activities; Represent the organization on campus; Ensure that the Tulane SVA is operating in conformity with the standards set forth by Tulane University and the Student Veterans of America; Maintain communication with the organization Advisor; and Discharge the responsibilities normally adhering to the office.
- The Vice President shall preside at all meetings if the President is absent; Succeed to the presidency in the event of the death, disability, or resignation of the President; Assist the President in representing Tulane SVA to internal and external constituencies; and Discharge the responsibilities normally adhering to the office.
- The Secretary shall maintain an accurate record (minutes) of the organization’s transactions; Maintain a membership directory; Correspond when necessary with University administration and other recognized organizations; and Discharge the responsibilities normally adhering to the office.
- The Treasurer shall oversee the receipts and disbursement of the funds of the Tulane SVA, while keeping an accurate and itemized account thereof; Prepare the annual budget request of Tulane SVA for submission to SGA; Shall follow the funding policies of SGA; Collect dues, if required; Arrange fundraising opportunities for the Tulane SVA; Solicit additional funding, if needed, from SGA; and Discharge the responsibilities normally adhering to the office. At the end of the academic year, a financial statement shall be compiled and submitted to SGA at the last general meeting of the year. The financial statement will be signed by the Treasurer and the President.
