Tulane SoPA Information Technology program adds certifications in ITIL and DevOps
The Tulane School of Professional Advancement (Tulane SoPA) is adding ITIL and DevOps certifications to its ABET-certified information technology degrees. Registration is open now.
“Adding ITIL and DevOps certifications to our professional programs helps our students develop skills which enhance their employability by equipping them to deliver immediate value in the workplace,” Ralph Russo, Director of Information Technology Programs and Senior Professor of Practice at Tulane SoPA. “Tulane students have always been ambassadors for best practice in companies and this will continue; showing leadership qualities while providing value and positive change through ITIL and DevOps practices.”
ITIL – available through a partnership with PeopleCert, a global leader in the certification industry – is an IT service management framework originally developed by the UK government to improve delivery of IT services and used by companies and professionals worldwide for more than 30 years. Meanwhile, DevOps skills provide the latest approach to improve workflow between software development and IT operations professionals.
“Adding ITIL and DevOps certifications to our professional programs helps our students develop skills which enhance their employability by equipping them to deliver immediate value in the workplace.”
— Ralph Russo, Director of IT Programs at Tulane SoPA
Students may register now for the fall semester when the new certifications will be available to Tulane students across all disciplines. Students should enroll in the ITIL/DevOps Certification course (CPST-4914-15). Non-degree students already employed in the workforce who want to enhance their skills, obtain a recognized certification and advance their careers may also enroll.
As a Military Friendly® School Silver Award recipient, Tulane encourages current and former armed services members and public service personnel to apply.
“Having an academic qualification – along with certifications like ITIL and DevOps – enables students to demonstrate a winning combination of degree-level knowledge and international best practice that meets organizations’ skills needs from day one,” Russo added.
Dain Belyeu, Head of Americas at PeopleCert, said: “Tulane University is a national school with a reputation known by students both in major cities around the US and overseas. Blending its academic excellence with our industry-standard best practices will enable graduates and existing professionals to solve real-world challenges and achieve valuable change and improvement in their companies.
“Our partnership will also help develop students who are life-long learners, able to re-skill, upskill and respond to fast-changing workplace demands.”
