Information Technology student Ariane Veal is set to complete requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree from the Tulane School of Professional Advancement (SoPA) this fall. 

Before graduation, Veal set out to earn experience through an internship where she works as a technology specialist at Ochsner Health. Let’s see how it’s going!

How did you learn about the internship?

Through SoPA! The internship was posted on the job board in Canvas. 

Tell us about the work you are doing this summer.

I am a part of the Information Systems Field Services Department as a Technology Specialist. We maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals and documents. We also maintain, upgrade, or replace hardware and software systems. 

What is your work schedule? 

I currently work Monday through Friday 8 a.m. -4:30 p.m. 

What will be your greatest strength after completing this summer position? 

The hands-on experience I am receiving is invaluable. This knowledge combined with the world-class education received from Tulane SoPA will do great things for my career. Another part of my role here is to provide excellent customer service and assist in problem resolution support. Those areas will be strengthened following this internship.  

What do you love most about being a SoPA student? 

The flexibility to earn my degree at a pace that works best for my family dynamic.
