Rev up your resume during National Career Development Month
The Tulane School of Professional Advancement (Tulane SoPA) is gearing up for three exciting events in recognition of National Career Development Month.
“Career development is a lifelong process of self-knowledge, exploration, improving our skills for advancement, and good decision-making that brings us closer to our ideal career.”
— Cynthia Washington, Senior Career and Professional Development Advisor
The month of November is reserved for all things career-related — from advice on resume writing to advice on changing careers — and everything in between.
“At Tulane SoPA we encourage our students to invest in themselves by seeking opportunities to develop their careers,” said senior career and professional development advisor Cynthia Washington. “During the month of November, we are challenging anyone interested in improving their career standing to attend one of our events.”
Washington says the November observation is a great time to complete this career checklist:
- Update your resume
- Develop your LinkedIn profile
- Improve your interview skills
- Conduct “informational interviews” with professionals in your field of interest
- Create a strategic job search plan with specific objectives and an established timeline
“Career development is a lifelong process of self-knowledge, exploration, improving our skills for advancement, and good decision-making that brings us closer to our ideal career,” says Washington.
There are two remaining career development events from Tulane SoPA:
