Is a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or IT required for an Information Technology Master’s?

No. However, the Master of Science in IT Management program is designed for professionals with significant IT experience, so you will be expected to have a wide breadth of IT knowledge.

Do I need to submit GRE or GMAT scores for acceptance into the online Masters in IT Management program?

No. Graduate admissions testing is not required for acceptance into SoPA's MS in IT Management program.

What should I include in my statement of purpose?

Your statement of purpose should include:

  • Why you are interested in the MS in IT Management program
  • A description of your experience, strengths, and accomplishments
  • Your intended area of focus during the program
  • Your long-term career goals

How many courses/credits are required to earn a Master’s in IT Management?

The Master of Science in IT Management is a 30-credit program consisting of 10 three-credit courses, including a capstone project.

Does the program offer concentrations?

Yes. MS in IT Management students can choose from three concentrations:

  • Cybersecurity
  • Emergency Operations
  • Homeland Security

How long will it take to complete the program?

That's up to you! If you attend full-time, you may complete the program in as little as one year. If you choose a part-time schedule, you'll be encouraged to take at least two courses a semester, but you'll have the flexibility to work at your own pace.

Can I attend the IT Management program part-time?

Yes. The MS in IT Management program is designed for working professionals who need to balance coursework and careers.

What are the time requirements for synchronous sessions?

You will be required to attend monthly synchronous sessions, or online meetings, 2.5 hours per month.

Are synchronous sessions recorded?

Yes.

How many students typically participate in synchronous sessions?

Synchronous sessions consist of groups of 10 to 15 students.

Will there be opportunities for students to engage with their peers outside of class time?

Yes. Students will be expected to participate in group projects and work groups with each other outside of class.

Will professors hold office hours?

Yes. Professors have weekly office hours and respond to emails within one business day.

Will I be eligible for financial aid?

Federal, state, and private grants, tuition discounts and scholarships are available to MS in IT Management students who qualify.
