Online Master of Education FAQ
Curriculum
Yes, we offer our Master of Education (MEd) degree entirely online, providing you with a flexible and accessible learning experience tailored to your needs.
Students enrolled in Tulane’s online MEd program complete their degree in an average of two years. It’s important to note, however, that this time may vary based on the number of credits taken each semester.
Students do not have to declare an area of specialization. If you are interested in pursuing one of the four graduate certificates as part of your online MEd, you are encouraged to address this in your personal statement. Students will choose their graduate certificate with an advisor upon course registration.
The online Master of Education (MEd) capstone is an application of your acquired knowledge and skills in real-world educational contexts. Through fieldwork, internships, or simulations, you engage directly with educational environments and translate theory into practice. In addition to the experiential component, you will complete culminating written reports and presentations focused on the instructional implications of your findings.
Both the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and the Master of Education (MEd) are valuable pathways into the field of education, but they serve different purposes and cater to distinct career aspirations. While the MAT program focuses on preparing teachers for the classroom, an MEd provides a background in American pedagogy and curriculum design to ready leaders equipped to navigate the complexities of modern education.
