Cynthia Marie Washington is the Senior Student and Employer Advisor for Tulane’s School of Professional Advancement. Cynthia has nine years of experience in higher education and comes to Tulane University from Vanderbilt University’s Career Center. As an Assistant Director, Career Advisor for six years, Cynthia used her expertise to advise students on career decision-making, provided consult to employers, taught a career course, developed innovative programs and workshops for student enrichment and led the center’s diversity & inclusion initiatives. Prior to Vanderbilt, she coordinated the recruiting program at the University of Michigan Engineering Career Resource Center. Cynthia is passionate about career and professional development and uses a holistic, strengths-based approach to help elevate students toward achieving career success.
Cynthia holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Western Michigan University. She is a voracious reader who recently moved to New Orleans for its rich culture, phenomenal cuisine and jazz tradition. She lives in the Warehouse District and is currently writing her first fiction novel.
