Biography
Roy A. Hensley, MBA, MSEE, CSM, is Head of Product Management for AI, ML, Data, and Analytics at the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), where he leads strategy, roadmaps, and execution for data and AI-powered products serving both internal stakeholders and ABS’s global customer base. His remit spans end-to-end product lifecycles—from discovery and definition to launch and adoption, while mentoring product managers and partnering with data engineering, BI, and data science teams to deliver measurable outcomes with modern SDLC/Agile practices and clear KPIs.
A transformational IT and product leader, Roy has over two decades of experience aligning technology investment to business results across energy, public sector, and high-tech. Prior to ABS, he served as Director of Enterprise Systems at Encino Energy, where he led cloud adoption across 80+ enterprise applications (95% cloud), accelerated automation with AI/ML and RPA, strengthened cybersecurity and business resilience, and realized significant recurring cost savings through rationalization and data-driven decisions. Earlier, as Program Director, Enterprise Technology Solutions at Geocent (now Sev1Tech), he directed large-scale modernization initiatives and mission-critical systems for commercial and state/local clients, supporting public safety, agencies, and interagency interoperability. He previously led enterprise architecture for Superior Energy Services (NYSE: SPN) and began his career in semiconductors at Dallas Semiconductor/Maxim Integrated, combining deep engineering fluency with business leadership.
Roy serves on Tulane University’s School of Professional Advancement (SoPA) Information Technology Industry Advisory Board, where his earlier profile highlighted program leadership across enterprise architecture, security, and large-scale operations.
He holds an MBA (Marketing & Finance) from Southern Methodist University and MS/BS in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana State University, is a Certified ScrumMaster, and an inventor on two U.S. patents. His professional interests include responsible AI, data governance, product operating models, and building high-performing, mission-driven teams to drive business outcomes.
