Biography

Benjamin (Ben) Yoss is a member of Tulane's Class of 2025 who is a candidate in receiving his BS in Information Technology with a concentration in Integrated Application Development. Ben has achieved the Dean's academic excellence award, three Industry Based Certifications (IBCs) from the non-profit Operation Spark as a certified Full-Stack web developer, and a certification in Java programming from the university of Helsinki. With two years of work experience in the technology industry, Ben aims to bring innovation to Tulane's students as a member of the Dean's Student Advisory Board.  
 
As a student, Ben is an active member of Tulane’s community and contributes to clubs such as Cookies and Code, Tulane Toastmasters, and the Tulane Table Tennis Club. Ben also appreciates helping the community at large and works with non-profits such as Operation Spark and Mercy Chefs as an active volunteer and assistant. With his knowledge of technology, Ben loves buildings projects and web apps to impact lives or for the plain fun of it. Ben also enjoys competition, often participating in hackathons locally and globally. Ben was a selected candidate and hacker in the “Hack the North 2021” competition at the University of Waterloo and a winner of the Showcode “Level Up Society” hackathon.
 
Professionally, when he is not chugging gallons of coffee and pulling all-nighters, Ben has worked closely with tech startups such as Ingest AI, a data management SaaS platform designed to bring meaningful data for restaurant chains. Ben is actively working towards a career in machine learning and data science.
 
As a hobbyist, Ben likes to kick it on the court and in the kitchen, playing racket ball or table tennis and cooking new meals every day. He also loves to write books and blogs, watch Netflix, and draw professionally.
