Biography
Aves Mocek is an experienced professional with a strong background in policy and research. Aves is currently a Legislative Aide for Senator Jim Justice (R-WV), focusing on the critical areas of National Security and Energy. This role is the latest in an impressive tenure on Capitol Hill, which also includes serving as a personal researcher and Legislative Correspondent for Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) and a Policy Intern for Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA). Through this Senate experience, Aves has covered a broad portfolio that includes Military, Foreign Relations, Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, Energy (renewables & fossil fuels), and Judiciary areas, including the FBI, Bureau of Prisons, and Immigration.
Aves holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Tulane University in Homeland Security Studies and Political Science. Before her Senate work, Aves worked for the Metropolitan Crime Commission as a Case Agent & Media Coordinator in New Orleans, where she wrote detailed accounts for hundreds of corruption cases and ran the MCC's online presence. Aves also has experience in communications and youth mentorship as a former social media director and sports coach for a company in Washington, DC- her hometown. Aves loves spending her free time trying new restaurants in DC with friends, visiting family in NOLA and Lafayette, and traveling to new cities.
