Biography

Dr. Teaway Zehyoue Collins has extensive work experience in the private and public sector that allows her to bring a wealth of practical and professional knowledge to students at Tulane University. Her private sector experience includes serving as a Consulting Manager for the largest accounting firm in the State of Louisiana Postlethwaite & Netterville in their New Orleans and Baton Rouge Offices and serving as an Internal Auditor for Macy's Inc. in Cincinnati, Ohio and San Francisco, California. Her public sector experience includes serving as a Legislative Auditor for the Louisiana Legislative Auditor Office, a Budget Administrator for the Louisiana Department of Education, and in the Policy Office of Former Louisiana’s Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco in Baton Rouge.

Dr. Collins previously taught in the Master of Public Administration Departments at California State University, Northridge and at Southern University and A & M College, Baton Rouge. She has a passion for teaching and motivating students to engage in classroom discussions and is dedicated to developing their critical thinking skills as scholars.  

Dr. Collins is originally from Liberia, West Africa, but she has lived and worked in cities throughout Louisiana, Ohio, New York, and California. Her research interests and publications are in the area of international development particularly focused on economic development and political development and in the area of racial equity and social justice. She has been an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated for 20 years.

Dr. Collins holds a Doctorate degree in Public Policy with a concentration in International Development and a Master of Public Administration degree from Southern University and A & M College in Baton Rouge. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Louisiana State University and A & M College in Baton Rouge.
