Biography
Sheila Gold is the Assistant Dean of Admissions of the Tulane University School of Professional Advancement. She is a licensed clinical social worker and has professionally practiced in education for over 20 years as both an enrollment professional and school counselor. Sheila began her career at Tulane University in the Office of Undergraduate Admission and has worked in both the higher education and K-12 arenas.
Sheila’s career has existed at the intersections of higher education and social work. At the core of the work she does each day, Sheila is dedicated to fair and equitable policies and desires to create an environment where the traditional and non-traditional student feels welcome to learn at Tulane.
Sheila has been an adjunct professor in social work at Tulane School of Social Work and University of Texas-Arlington School of Social Work. Dr. Gold has presented at multiple conferences both locally and nationally on the topics of admissions in higher education, child development, play therapy and school counseling. She has contributed articles to NOLA Baby and Family Magazine as well as Parenting for Moral Growth Magazine, and she published a character education curriculum for elementary and middle school counselors in 2012.
Sheila is a proud Tulane alumna receiving her Bachelor's degree in History from Newcomb College, her MSW from the Tulane School of Social Work and her DSW from Tulane School of Social Work.
