Biography

Coach Mo is originally from Southern California and grew up immersed in competitive sports—including soccer, swimming, water polo, tennis, golf, and track and field. After high school, he served in the United States Air Force, where he worked in Logistics and first developed his passion for fitness. During his time in the military, he became deeply involved in weightlifting, CrossFit, and obstacle course racing events such as Spartan Race and Tough Mudder.

Since then, Coach Mo has continued to live and breathe fitness through various disciplines including strength training, bodybuilding, powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, and CrossFit. In addition to being an Adjunct Professor, he is a Health & Wellness Coach and a nutrition consultant for various CrossFit businesses/athletes.

While serving in the military, Coach Mo pursued his education online and earned an A.A.S. in Logistics from the Community College of the Air Force, as well as an A.S. in Computer Information Systems from the Florida Institute of Technology. Following his military service, he went on to earn both his B.S. and M.S. in Kinesiology from San Francisco State University—the former with an emphasis in Exercise Science and a minor in Athletic Coaching, and the latter with a focus on Exercise Physiology, Sport Psychology, and the sociocultural aspects of Kinesiology.

Coach Mo is finishing his Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH) at Claremont Graduate University (ETC 12/2025), where he continues to investigate his passion at the intersection of fitness, health, and public health leadership.
