Biography
Morgan Olivia John is an enrolled citizen of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana and former Coushatta Princess. Morgan is a dedicated advocate and policy analyst with a strong commitment to centering Tribal sovereignty in nation-nation governance and Indian Country. With a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and French from Texas Christian University, accompanied by a minor in History, Morgan's academic foundation spans cultural dynamics, societal nuances, and diverse government systems. During her Master’s in Public Administration at Tulane University, Morgan specialized in Economic Development and used her studies to pursue gaps in data and research on the economic impact of gender inequity in Merida, Mexico, and current events in Federal Indian Policy.
Morgan currently serves as a Legislative Assistant to the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana focusing on policy research and analysis on Indian Healthcare, Tribal Energy Programs, Federal Indian Tax Policy and Nation-Nation governance.
Morgan is driven to ensure the prosperity of future generations by combining Indigenous knowledge with data-driven policy and empowering Indigenous people towards greater sovereignty. Her work embodies a commitment to advancing the strategic goals of her Tribe and the broader Tribal community.
