Melanie Buffett

In 1997 Melanie received a BA in Media and Theatre Arts from Montana State University. Since 2004 she has had a dual career as a Pilates/yoga instructor and an executive manager in social media marketing in the large-scale restaurant business.

In 2022 she earned a Post Baccalaureate Certificate  in Paralegal Studies from SoPA. Notarial Law, an elective in the curriculum, piqued her interests more than expected.

She found the information communicated in the Notarial Law class valuable and empowering far beyond becoming a notary and/or passing the state notary exam.

In the class, she learned basic Louisiana law that applies to everyday actions (marriage, divorce, etc), transactions (buying cars, entering into mortgages, transferring property, etc.), and matters of life and death (wills, successions, etc.) that she believes all Louisianans would benefit from understanding more thoroughly.

Upon completing the SoPA program with honors,  Melanie passed the state notary exam on her first attempt and earned her commission as a Louisiana Civil Law Notary. In addition to her other jobs, she has been a practicing Notary Public under the supervision and guidance of Michele and Alan Childress, attorneys, teachers, and authors of several Louisiana Notary Exam study guides.
