Biography

Dr. Phillips is a seasoned healthcare IT information security professional, as well as an operational technical infrastructure service Director. He is a graduate of UAB's MSHA, MSHI, MBA programs. Thad began his PhD studies in Health Systems Management at Tulane in 2004 prior to Hurricane Katrina and evacuated to Mobile, AL hours before the storm, where he continued and completed his education over the next 7 years while working full time in Healthcare IT Security and Operations at the University of South Alabama Health System.

Dr. Phillips began his current position with Baptist Health Care in Pensacola, FL in 2018 as the enterprise Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Most recently, he has been given an additional role as the Interim IT Director of Technical Infrastructure Services. He brings 20+ years of applicable Administration/Information Technology operations experience to his teaching as an adjunct faculty member with both Tulane University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
