Biography
Joshua Copeland is an Adjunct Professor of Information Technology at Tulane University’s School of Professional Advancement, where he teaches courses in cybersecurity, information technology, and risk management.
Copeland is a retired U.S. Air Force cyber professional with more than 25 years of experience spanning military, federal, state and local government, higher education, and commercial cybersecurity environments. His background includes cybersecurity leadership, cloud security, security operations, compliance, incident response, infrastructure protection, and cyber workforce development.
He currently holds several industry Director/CISO roles, advising organizations on cybersecurity strategy, operational resilience, artificial intelligence risk, and security leadership. He also serves as Deputy Commander of the Louisiana State Guard Cyber Reserve, supporting cyber response and emergency management capabilities.
Copeland is an award-winning cybersecurity leader, published author, peer-reviewed journal contributor, conference speaker, and media commentator on cybersecurity leadership, governance, risk, cloud security, artificial intelligence, and workforce development. He has presented at multiple major industry conferences, including Black Hat and RSA Conference, and is frequently engaged in conversations about the future of cybersecurity leadership and operational resilience.
He holds a Master of Science in Cybersecurity Management from Tulane University and a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Charter Oak State College. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Computer Science with a focus on Cybersecurity and Information Assurance at Colorado Technical University.
