Biography
Josh holds a Master of Science in Information Technology and Management from the Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNC Greensboro and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration in Leadership in the Age of Artificial Intelligence at Trevecca Nazarene University. With over a decade of experience spanning the tech industry and higher education, Josh brings a unique blend of real-world expertise and academic rigor to everything he does.
In the industry, Josh served as a Technical Trainer and Education Development Senior Engineer at Lenovo in Research Triangle Park, where he led 40-hour international training programs for Premier Support Engineers on a quarterly basis, delivered monthly sessions on problem determination and product updates, and managed a cutting-edge data center innovation lab that supported the skill development of engineers across both Lenovo and IBM. He also administered Lenovo's LMS platform (Moodle) and maintained a virtual desktop environment used for testing and training. Prior to Lenovo, Josh served as an IT Trainer at Mutual of Omaha Mortgage, designing and implementing company-wide technology learning initiatives, and spent over six years at J.Crew providing IT infrastructure support across distribution centers, stores, and offices internationally while championing emerging technologies to reduce costs.
In higher education, Josh currently serves as Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Coordinator of the Computer Science Program at Brevard College, where he teaches courses spanning programming, cybersecurity, cloud computing, databases, and software design. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member at multiple institutions, including graduate data science course development and instruction at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, graduate computer science at Southern New Hampshire University, cybersecurity at Rize Education, information technology and scripting at Lipscomb University, and networking and system administration at Lander University. His teaching portfolio extends across community colleges in western North Carolina, where he spent years building programs and leading faculty in computer information technology at Haywood Community College and Blue Ridge Community College.
Josh is experienced across online synchronous and asynchronous, hybrid, and face-to-face modalities, and is a dedicated course developer and content creator who designs instructional materials and hands-on lab activities for a wide range of IT and computer science courses. A certified Zero Trust Cyber Associate and Free and Open-Source Software advocate, Josh is deeply passionate about breaking down the tech language barrier — reducing jargon, using relatable examples, and empowering others through accessible education and innovative strategies.
