Biography

Joseph (Joe) Dalessandro, MS, wanted to be a pirate when he grew up and the role of security auditor is as close as he will get. Joe has extensive experience and qualifications in Information Security, Audit, and AI, and has lived in three countries and worked in nine countries.  Joe spent four years in Australia with a large US financial institution setting up their first Internal Audit department outside the USA, where he then served as Global Head of Internal Audit for the Asia-Pacific region covering Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan. He also worked in Information Security conducting penetration testing and third-party cybersecurity assessments. Joe is the former Head of Security & Technology Audit and Audit Data Analytics for an Australian corporation and is currenting the CISO and Principal AI Assessor for Sirius Matters, a specialist consulting firm operating in the areas of cybersecurity and AI. Joe is a Working Group Member and Working Group Lead for the International Association of Algorithmic Auditors (IAAA) helping to define certifications and accreditation for those auditing AI deployments. Joe is also an IEEE Working Group member for: P7014-Standard for Ethical considerations in Emulated Empathy in Autonomous and Intelligent Systems, and, P3474-Standard for Human Intentions and Artificial Intelligence Alignment in Autonomous Driving Agents.
