Biography
In addition to his adjunct faculty position at Tulane University, Dr. Beam is a full-time Occupational Safety and Health Professional at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM. In this position, he coordinates the Surveillance Medical Fitness Program (firefighter and HAZMAT) for the laboratory. He is also an adjunct faculty member in the Biology Department at Santa Fe Community College in Santa Fe, NM, where he teaches Anatomy & Physiology. He is a certified personal trainer with the American Council on Exercise, a certified exercise physiologist with the American College of Sports Medicine, and a tactical strength and conditioning facilitator with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. His major areas of interest are resistance training, sports nutrition, exercise metabolism, disease prevention, and aging. He lives in Los Alamos, NM and enjoys spending time outdoors and with his wife and two sons.
