Biography
Jada Buckner-Greer, Ed.D., is a Professor of Practice in Kinesiology in Tulane University’s School of Professional Advancement. Her work sits at the intersection of sport administration, leadership, career development, and overall people development, with a particular interest in helping individuals better understand who they are, how they lead, and where they want to go next.
Before joining the faculty, Buckner-Greer spent more than a decade working in collegiate athletics administration. Most recently, she served as Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Enhancement also at Tulane, where she supported student-athletes in their personal, professional, and career development. Additional athletics experience also includes NCAA compliance, continuing eligibility, collegiate coaching and strength and conditioning. Early in her career, she worked as a postgraduate intern in Academic and Membership Affairs at the NCAA national office.
Across these roles, Buckner-Greer has developed a passion for developing people: not only student-athletes, but also students, staff, and emerging professionals alike. Her areas of interest include leadership development, organizational culture, the student-athlete experience, career preparation, and finding innovative ways to create meaningful learning and development opportunities.
Her perspective is also shaped by her own experiences in sport. A former collegiate student-athlete, she has also coached women’s basketball, worked in strength and conditioning with men’s and women’s basketball programs, previously worked as a certified personal trainer, and has competed in a past figure bodybuilding division competition. These experiences have given her an appreciation for both the opportunities sport can create and the transitions that come when one’s identity, career path, or professional goal begins to change.
In the classroom, she brings both an academic and practitioner perspective, connecting theory with the realities of working in sport and other organizations. She challenges students to think intentionally about leadership, people, organizations, and their own personal and professional development while gaining a better understanding of how organizations and people actually operate beyond a textbook’s description. Her goal is for students to leave class better prepared to lead, collaborate, build meaningful connections, and make thoughtful decisions for and throughout their careers.
Buckner-Greer earned a Doctor of Education in Global Sport Leadership and a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Sport Performance from East Tennessee State University. She also earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science at Nova Southeastern University where she was a women's basketball student-athlete.
