Biography
Gina Fortado is a Senior Administrative Program Coordinator at SoPA. Gina began her Tulane career in 1986 as a Gift Recorder in the Alumni Development Information Systems Department. She later accepted a position of Project Assistant in the Department of Campus Recreation where she was awarded the “Student Affairs Professional of the Month” in 2007. On September 6th, 2011, Mrs. Fortado transferred to the Elmwood Campus at SoPA where she has been able to excel in her administrative skills which allowed for advancement.
Overcoming the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer brought a new perspective in Mrs. Fortado’s life. She still continues to spread her optimism through her work and relationships with the students. Gina is otherwise known as the “Mom” of the Elmwood Campus.
Mrs. Fortado has an amazing voice, which she shares at SoPA Commencements and other Tulane events. So look for her when you participate in your own SoPA Commencement.
What is the best advice you've ever received?
The best advice I ever received is to be kind to others. Everyone deserves kindness.
What are your favorite activities when you are not working?
My favorite activity when not working is spending time with family. Those are the moments we should most treasure.
