Sergeant Bruce Verrette, USMC enlisted in the Marine Corps to be a Personnel Clerk shortly after the attacks of September 11th, 2001. He began his boot camp training in December of the same year, was meritoriously promoted upon graduation, and joined the Marine Corps Reserves based out of New Orleans shortly thereafter. After being mobilized to support Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, then Lance Corporal Verrette agreed to continue on the Active Reserve program to assist with demobilization of his unit and was meritoriously promoted a second time to the rank of Corporal. He then transferred to Marine Forces Reserve (MFR) Headquarters where he spent time in the MFR G-1 Operations Section as an Admin Assistance Unit Specialist, training administrators from over 180 units across the U.S. on proper mobilization and deployment processes of Marine Corps Reservists. During this time, Sgt Verrette began his IT career by attending Delgado Community College and working on various systems within MFR as both a Super User and as a Systems Administrator. Upon graduating with an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Technology, Sgt Verrette transferred to a four-year program at Tulane's School of Continuing Studies (now Professional Advancement). Sgt Verrette then ended his 10-year active career with 3d Battalion 23d Marines based out of Belle Chasse, LA, but not before completing a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Application Development.
Bruce began his career at Ochsner Health System in May of 2013 as an Information Systems Analyst on the Ancillary Clinical Systems team, assisting with the eICU program, and then brought his talents to the Women's Service Line applications for Ochsner. While juggling working for Ochsner and coaching little league sports for the Kenner Recreation Department, Bruce finished Master's Degrees in both Homeland Security and Applied Computing Software from Tulane University. During his tenure at Ochsner, Bruce has supported dozens of system upgrades, implementations and improvements to overall performance for the dozens of applications he has supported, while also being promoted to Sr Analyst, Team Lead, and most recently, Manager for the same team.
Bruce has always wanted to help others, whether it be through coaching kids' sports, serving his country or assisting providers in caring for their patients through the software he owns responsibility for.
