Coming of Age Movies - PAEN 3350
Uptown Lecture | 3 Credit Hours
Students will use the assigned coming-of-age films as a springboard for imaginative critical analysis and general film study. Students will critically analyze films using a wide-ranging of perspectives and study their cinematic elements.
Digital Design Foundation - DDSN -1100
Online or Elmwood Lecture | 3 Credit Hours | Attributes: SoPA Humanities Requirement
This course involves inquiry into the nature of the graphic design, game art & animation, and interactive fields. Topics introduced in this course are color theory, project workflow, aesthetics, visual concepts, typography Adobe software fundamentals, and more! The course also introduces students to oral and written communication for design practices, presentation techniques and the client-designer relationship.
Emergency Management - HMLS 3250
Uptown Lecture | 3 Credit Hours | Attributes: SoPA Social Sciences Requirement
Students examine core elements of emergency management in the context of the science, law, medicine, and economics. Case studies, including that of Hurricane Katrina, will serve as the focus for readings, class discussion and policy research to improve this vital function of government.
Foundations of Academic Success - SOPA 1100
Online | 3 Credit Hours
Students will develop the skills needed to promote academic and personal success through topics including: strengths assessment, motivation, goals, self-advocacy, self-management, and well-being. Students will also explore the campus resources and support services available to them and create academic success toolkits.
Persuasive Public Speaking - SPEC 1400
Online or Uptown Lecture | 3 Credit Hours | Attributes: SoPA Humanities Requirement
Students will explore the principles of audience analysis, speech composition, and delivery with special attention given to persuasive techniques.
Stress Management - KINE 2230
Uptown Lecture | 3 Credit Hours | Attributes: SoPA Science Requirement
This course examines stress from psycho-physiological and behavioral perspectives. Each student will have the opportunity to experience various strategies used in coping with stress, e.g., self-mastery, meditation, imagery, exercise, nutrition, and cognitive restructuring. Various theories will be discussed that serve as the foundation for the understanding of and coping with everyday stressors as well as those that occur unexpectedly. |

Two recent graduates of the Tulane School of Professional Advancement’s Media + Design program placed among the top student designers in the country during the 2022 National American Advertising Award (ADDY) Ceremony. Their work was judged in the student category as it was submitted prior to graduation.

Mariska Morse, a 2022 SoPA graduate, co-founded Salon22 on the idea that women work best when they’re collaborating and accomplishing goals together. She and co-founders Christa Talbott, Fay Kimbrell (SW ’17) and Fresh Johnson wanted to create an inclusive, thoughtfully designed space for co-working, networking, nurturing and growing.
