International Food & Music Festival

  • This event is free for all Tulane faculty, staff and students. You must present your Splash Card.

The International Food and Music Festival is a tradition for Tulane University and the surrounding New Orleans community. It is not possible without the participation of the international community at Tulane. We need your help to represent your culture, country, or community. Share food, crafts, cultural history, language, performance, and have fun at this beautiful outdoor festival.

Cultural Cuisine Booths: Organizations and individuals canprepare and serve a cultural tasting of cuisine representing a specific country and/or culture. Each booth will provide information on their heritage and traditions to attendees.Cultural Cuisine BoothHosts will be reimbursed up to $100 for their food purchases. Can be joined with a Cultural Exchange Booth as well.

Cultural Exchange Booths: Organizations and individuals canprovide interactive demonstrations and display cultural artifacts. Cultural Exchange booths may also teach attendees about different practices that are unique to the country or culture they are representing.Can be joined with a Cultural Cuisine Booth as well.

Demonstration and Storytellers Tent: Individuals and organizations wishing to share dance, crafts, oral history, dramatic performances,folktales,readings of poetry or literature canengage with groups of attendees. Storytellers can wear costumes and bring small props to shape their stories and allow attendees to participate in presentations.

Main Stage Performances: Organizations and individuals who wish to showcase their skills will have an opportunity to perform during the event. Please provide a brief description of your performance and how it connects to a particular country or cultural tradition. Performances should be no more than 30 minutes in length and can involve multiple songs, dances, dramatic interpretations.

Volunteers: We need plenty of help to make this happen. If you want to assist us in setting up, decorating, serving food, helping at the Kids Zone, or breaking down the event, please join us through the link above.
