Biography
Dr. Ted Vickey is a Professor/Instructor at multiple Universities teaching classes in fitness management, wellness entrepreneurship, disruptive health technologies, professional ethics, and social media and health.
In addition to his teaching, he is the Founder & President of FitWell, Inc., a fitness consulting company specializing in innovation and emerging technology. He is the senior advisor for fitness technology and an emeritus member of the Board of Directors for the American Council on Exercise, and served as the Senior Advisor for Disruptive Health Technologies at the Canyon Ranch Institute.
From 1994-2005, Ted was the Executive Director of the White House Athletic Center, the fitness center serving the fitness, health, and wellness needs of the staff at the Executive Office of the President under the Clinton and Bush administrations. He has also consulted with companies and organizations such as the White House, Department of Commerce, Securities and Exchange Commission, Fruit of the Loom, TSA, Sylvania, and Allied Irish Bank.
His PhD is from the National University of Ireland Galway from the school of Engineering and Informatics where his research areas focused on disruptive health technologies, social networks (Twitter), mobile fitness apps and data mining. His Masters is from the University of Limerick in Ireland in International Business and Entrepreneurship. His Bachelors is from Penn State University in Exercise and Sport Scient.
Dr. Vickey lives in Southern California, where he frequently plays golf, tinkers with fitness and health gadgets, and takes long walks along the beach for outdoor physical activity. He is the Media Center Chair for the Farmers Insurance Open PGA golf tournament, has been a TV Spotter for nine British Opens, and is the 2021 US Open Co-Chair for Marshal Services.
