Biography

Stoney Gaddy is a Senior Instructional Designer and adjunct faculty member in the Information Technology and Learning Experience Design (LXD) programs at Tulane University, School of Professional Advancement, where he guides faculty and students through challenges and opportunities posed by innovation, research, technology, and competitive nature in the realm of teaching and learning.

Prior to joining SoPA in 2020, Mr. Gaddy worked for a global learning design company where he consulted with major universities, large community college systems, and domestic and international businesses. His specializations included higher education program development, assessment of student learning, immersive corporate training, and user interface (UI) design for learning experiences.

In his previous stints in higher education, he served as Director of Distance Learning at Sheridan College for eight (8) years, where he provided vision, creativity, and leadership to program and course development, quality assurance, faculty support and training, and student onboarding and support. During his tenure, annualized online full-time equivalency (FTE) enrollment increased nearly 200% (~24.5% yearly) in 8 years. He also assisted academic programs in developing fourteen (14) degrees and three (3) certificate programs fully online and led the creation of a Center for Excellence in Learning Innovation, where he and his faculty focused on active learning spaces, experiential learning, and incorporating classroom technologies.

Mr. Gaddy’s first thirteen (13) years in higher education were spent as a professor in information systems, where he specialized in business information systems, IT systems analysis and design, and Web and user experience design (UX). He worked closely with department faculty and advisory committees to maintain quality courses and programs and develop new degree programs, concentrations, and professional certificates that aligned with industry-recognized standards and certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, and Inet+. In addition, he served as the lead Web Development, Content Strategist where he designed, developed, and managed the institution’s Website.

He enjoys spending time with his wife Katie, university faculty member and school Psychologist, and their blended family. The family enjoys traveling year-round for sports, and far-away destinations to see family, explore, learn, and even relax a little. Mr. Gaddy and his wife also enjoy renovating their home, inside and outside.
