Biography
Charles Hodgson, MHSA, Ph.D. abd, brings almost 40 years of experience as a professional in Information Technology with supervisory, managerial, project management, and hands-on experience in a variety of data processing disciplines including the design, development, and implementation of applications. Mr. Hodgson also has close to 40 years as an adjunct instructor at the university level teaching various Information Technology disciplines.
As IT Manager for Clinical Divisions for Peoples Health, Charles T. Hodgson, manages the development, implementation, and maintenance of mission critical websites. Prior to this Mr. Hodgson Manages the development, implementation, and maintenance of electronic health record applications for contracted providers and managed the technical staff to ensure the integrity of technical processes and medical data.
Prior to joining Peoples Health in 2011, Mr. Hodgson served as the Director of Software Engineering for D’Antonio Technologies and as the Manger of Software Development for MedAssets. In these roles, he was responsible for computer operations and software application planning, development and management. Mr. Hodgson served as the Director of Information Technology for LSU Healthcare Network, where he managed the technical division, a $5 million budget and was responsible for strategic planning, application and server management, and technical and desktop support. Mr. Hodgson’s professional experience also includes serving as the Senior Business Analyst for GCR & Associates and in project management positions for Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation. While at Ochsner Hodgson was instrumental in the design, development, and implementation of the Patient Accounting system developed on a relational database platform consisting of over 3,000 programs.
Mr. Hodgson began as a Teaching Assistant in 1979 at the University of New Orleans. Mr. Hodgson advanced to an instructor and curriculum developer at the University of New Orleans and Metropolitan College where he developed and taught programming courses. In 2000 Mr. Hodgson began as an adjunct instructor in the Computer Information Systems at University College of Tulane. In 2008, Mr. Hodgson began as an adjunct instructor at Delgado Community College developing courses and instructing numerous online, hybrid, and on-ground classes. Mr. Hodgson is a certified Online Facilitator for Socrates DL Technology Group for learning. Mr. Hodgson has completed Quality Matters training to develop online courses that adhere to the online Quality Matters guidelines.
Mr. Hodgson was the first graduate of the MHSA program to be invited back to teach the MIS Course in Project Management, St Joseph’s College. At Tulane University, Mr. Hodgson was the first to design and instruct a PeopleSoft Course. Mr. Hodgson has several publications: "A Case for Encryption" in the CBS Journal, "The Utilization of Improved Computer Communication Methods in Vascular Access Management for Dialysis Patients" in Contemporary Dialysis and Nephrology, “PostLink ICM User’s Guide” for MedAssets, and “System Requirement Specifications" for The Seafarers Vacation Plan.
