Biography

Adina Lopatin began her career at the NYC Department of Education, where she developed the first citywide survey of parents, teachers and students, and experienced the impacts and limitations of systemwide reforms from a district leadership perspective. Shifting her focus to teacher learning, Adina trained as a social studies teacher and studied education leadership. Now, Adina focuses on using what we know about how adults learn and change practice to help educators get “un-stuck” in their journeys towards equity and justice. Recent projects include: teaching social studies methods and education foundations courses; developing a library of teacher education curriculum materials; contributing to a toolkit for teaching multilingual learners; and facilitating cycles of continuous improvement. Adina comes from New York and lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan with her family.
