About Tulane SoPA Media + Design

Our mission is to provide students with the research and problem-solving skills necessary to create strategic, innovative, cultural and socially significant communication solutions. Students will understand how communication can create change through design, advertising, public relations and digital media marketing. Upon graduation, students of SoPA’s Media + Design program will be prepared to enter a highly competitive workforce in the industries of graphic design, interactive design, public relations, digital media marketing and advertising.

Bachelor's Degree Programs

The Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations or Digital Media & Marketing Communications will help students gain the tools they need to work in a multitude of industries.

Housed in SoPA’s Department of Media + Design, Public Relations and Digital Media & Marketing Communications students will have the opportunity to engage with their colleagues in both the media and design space to create strategic communication solutions for organizations’ opportunities and challenges.

Specifically, the Public Relations major equips students with content-rich and highly competitive skills that are necessary in the public relations and strategic communication industries. The Digital Media & Marketing Communications major prepares students to enter the digital marketing space and reach targeted audiences through a variety of digital strategies and tactics. The hands-on courses in this degree program help prepare graduates for a fast-paced work environment that requires creativity and an understanding of targeting the right audiences.

Professional Certificates

Students can earn a professional certificate in three distinct disciplines - Advertising, Digital Media & Marketing Communications and Public Relations.

Each certificate is designed for students with some level of familiarity, whether professional or academic, in the discipline. Students can expect to hone their skills in advertising, digital marketing or public relations in these curated certificate programs.

Polish skills in managing and evaluating strategic communication campaigns across the advertising, digital marketing and public relations disciplines with a professional certificate.

Minors

SoPA Media + Design offers various minors within the program. Each of these 18-hour minors provide students the opportunity to gain industry knowledge in content areas related to their major to aid in their marketability after graduation.

Our program can help people who already work in digital marketing or public relations increase their earning potential, or they can provide those who are new to these industries with the skills and professional networks they need to pursue a new career.
