Women in Technology: The Path Forward

Online

This interactive event will feature a panel of information technology leaders from government, industry, as well as tech entrepreneurs to speak about their experiences as women in this domain, the challenges they faced, and how they thrived in the traditionally male technology culture.

Get insight from those who have succeeded in breaking the glass ceiling! Research indicates that women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields are underrepresented. As per the National Center for Women & Information Technology(2017), women make up half of the U.S college-educated workforce, but only 26 percent of the professional computing workforce. This event will also inform attendees about Tulane School of Professional Advancement’s Women in Technology Mentorship Program, which is committed to providing support and mentorship to women who seek to obtain degrees in the Information Technology Program. This initiative addresses the discrepancy in technology careers by partnering students with a strong network of industry mentors who help students prepare for navigating challenges faced by women in information technology fields.
