Cynthia Marie Washington is a career educator with 10 years of experience in college career services. She is the Senior Student and Employer Advisor for Tulane’s School of Professional Advancement. Her coaching philosophy blends empathy, strategy, and taking action with an understanding that career development is a lifelong process of discovery and learning. She endeavors to help students bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be.

Ms. Washington joined Tulane from Vanderbilt University, where she spent six years as a career coach and advised employers on executing campus recruiting strategies. She also taught an internship course, led the Center’s Diversity & Inclusion Initiative, facilitated AAUW’s Smart Start Salary Negotiation workshops, and collaborated with Vanderbilt Athletics to design and facilitate career and professional development seminars for student-athletes. Prior to Vandy, she managed the campus recruiting program at the University of Michigan Engineering Career Resource Center.

Ms. Washington teaches the Taylor Your Life course at Tulane and built her career using the design thinking methodology transitioning from a career as a flight attendant to a career development practitioner. She is pursuing a Master of Liberal Arts from Tulane University, holds a B.A. in Communication, B.S. in Business Management, and an MBA. She lives in the vibrant Warehouse District and is currently writing her first novel.
