
Biography
Dr. Deborah Hutchins is an Adjunct Professor in the Information Technology (IT) Program at the Tulane School of Professional Advancement (SoPA). Dr. Hutchins specializes in IT, Cybersecurity, and Project Management. Her primary goal is to ensure learners receive a quality education in an environment that is geared toward interactive learning and engagement. Dr. Hutchins enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with learners in the field of Information Technology and providing a well-rounded learning experience where students are fully prepared, and equipped, to enter the IT field upon completion of the Tulane School of Professional Advancement Information Technology Program.
Dr. Hutchins has 18 years’ experience in Cybersecurity and Project Management. She has worked in support of multiple federal organizations in the Washington, DC area to include, the Department of Defense, Department of Justice and the Intelligence Community. Dr. Hutchins specializes in IT Governance and the independent verification and validation (IV&V) of information systems; which ensures information systems are built in accordance with federal guidelines and validates the inherent security controls are implemented and maintained in accordance with federal directives.
Dr. Hutchins has a Doctorate degree in Business Administration (DBA) and Leadership, a Master’s of Public Administration (MPA), with specializations in Public Management and Information Systems, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Human Resource Management.
She is currently a Product Owner, practicing the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) where she, and her team, develop, test, and deploy engineering Products for use in the organizational enterprise environment.
Dr. Hutchins is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), ITIL .v3 certified and SAFe for Product Owners | Product Managers (SAFe PO / PM) certified.
Dr. Hutchins lives in Northern Virginia and enjoys going to Washington, DC to take in the sites of the Monuments, Museums, and Shows. She is a native New Yorker and enjoys watching the Giants, Yankees, and Knicks, when they win.
