Biography
Dr. Davis received a Ph.D. in anthropology from Yale University. He has conducted extensive archaeological and ethnohistoric research in the West Indies and the southeastern United States, and teaches courses in archaeology, historical anthropology, and historical cartography, with emphases in the Caribbean and Louisiana. He is the author of a number of scholarly publications on these topics, and occasionally also writes fiction and travel articles.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
I've had the good fortune to travel pretty widely. My next target is India.
What advice would you give to someone who's considering finishing their degree, or starting for the first time as an adult?
Be thoughtful about which rules you decide to break.
What are your favorite activities when you are not working?
I enjoy travel, cooking, playing and singing sea songs, and writing.
